Atelier Without Borders 2018 Events

January 2018 – Filming of the didactic videos that will be part of the virtual training program for teachers and volunteers on our website. Video is filmed with our Art Therapist Cecilia Thibes-Staubli formed by Studiumjahr Goetheanum Institute in Dornach, Switzerland and by the Therapy Art Program at Paulos Center in São Paulo.

February 2018 – Coloring Lives Papagaio- Educational and Social Trip to the Morro do Papagaio Community in Belo Horizonte. Artists and community work together with local children creating artistic experiences with drawings and folk stories and work with renowned artists of their community raising funds for local sustainability. Participating in this segment: Monica Mendes and Monica Pessoa Teixeira, as well as local volunteers in Brazil and in the community.

April 2018 – Coloring Lives Haiti – Educational and Social Trip to Bel Air Community in Port of Prince, Haiti. Artists and community work together with local children creating artistic experiences with drawings and folk stories and work with renowned artists of their community raising funds for local sustainability. Participating in this segment: Daniela Bercovitch and local volunteers in Haiti and in the community.

In partnership with Viva Rio NGO, Atelier without Borders offered a one-day Social Media Workshop for emerging artists in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Artists will learn how to use platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest and how to tell great stories.

May 2018 – Educational Workshop at Downtown Doral Charter School in Miami. The workshops of Atelier Without Borders consist of themes of Brazilian culture. Folklore, short stories, representations from art with music drawings, clay, music and theater are presented in interactive form as children of all age groups enjoy the experience. In this segment, volunteer artists  Cecilia Thibes-Staubli, Maria Helena and Daniela Bercovitch have  participated as volunteer artists.

June 2018 – Preparation time for second semester. Fund raising.

July 2018 – Coloring Lives Paraguay –

August 2018 – Distribution of artwork to the community of Vidigal, Rio de Janeiro

September 2018 – Traveling Artists with the participation of Brazilian artists Rona Neves, Jorge Barata and Marco Cavalcanti in annual multimedia Contemporary Art Fair Art Brazil in Miami.

Charity art auction with Art That Saves during ArtBrazil month – Works of art created jointly by children from underprivileged communities in various places of the world are put for sale with the collaborative effort of established artists. ArtBrazil exhibition serves as a platform for raising these funds for the needy communities, giving continuity to sustainable educational programs. All the artists and volunteers who participate in the creation of the works participate in this segment and are open to the public.

October 2018 – Art Brazil Field trip and art talk offered to elementary children from Ada Merritt Elementary School in Miami.

November 2018 – Miami Art Show “Sororidade” at Monica Mendes Art Studio with artwork exhibition and Fundraising.

Art Folklore Workshop at Downtown Doral Charter School in Miami – The History of Saci Pererê. Folklore, short stories, representations in art form such as drawings, clay, music and theater are always carried out in interactive ways as children of all ages can participate. The workshops are carried out by volunteer artists Daniela Bercovitch, Maria Helena Campos, Monica Mendes and art therapist Cecilia Thibes.
